S Fork Toutle Outing – Saturday March
Reminder to everyone that this coming Saturday, March 9, is the tentative date for our annual outing opener at S Fork Toutle. The date is tentative both for weather and Jeff’s availability. Jeff is still recovering from his
knee replacement but hopes to be mobile enough to put on the traditional pot of his world-renowned chili so we can have a little fun(k) and do justice to our best Blazing Saddles impersonation while assembling around the campfire. Jeff and Vance will want a head count of who is attending during Tuesday’s general meeting and pretty sure they’ll appreciate offers of help loading and unloading given Jeff’s continued recovery from knee surgery.
As in past years location of the gathering is Harry Gardner Park just past Toutle with roughly 9 AM coffee and donuts, Chili offering beginning at noonish. Looking at weather forecast it looks like there’ll be several dry days
preceding the outing so S Fork should be in excellent shape to work out you’re casting and mending cobwebs with reasonable chance of swinging your favorite fly in front of a fish.

Editor’s Message -

 Program: Jeff Sowder’s Ireland
Jeff will be our speaker this month, giving a talk about his “Irish fishing adventure”. Jeff and Kathy spent a few
weeks touring the Emerald Isle last October. Personally (Editor comments) having had my own British Isle
fishing adventure just a few years ago, I look forward to hearing what Ireland offers.
One the heels of last month’s presentation by Kenagy on his experiences in New Zealand – and the extensive
conversation over past couple months around Rabinowe’s Redfish excursion in Louisiana, your LCFF Board
hopes this is beginning of a trend. The trend being monthly programs are primarily presentations by members
of our own individual, or small group, outings. We still hope for occasional presentations by fisheries
professionals but believe we have enough unique experiences within our own membership to offer education
and entertainment in-house. Please consider what adventures you’ve experienced that would be worthy of
sharing with the club and contact any board member to get it on our calendar – will be much appreciated!
